BOE reviews bids, other business approved

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF)- The Campbell County Board of Education reviewed bids for the Jacksboro Elementary School gym flooring at Tuesday’s meeting, approving the low bid out of two vendors who responded to the bid.

JL Enterprise LLC came in with the low bid at $145,256.00, while the other company Skilled Services bid the project at $182,100.00. The low bid was recommended and approved by the board.

 After a motion was made to approve action items in one lump sum, excluding item N, the board approved items for action A through M.
Among those items approved was the creation of an ELS teacher position at Campbell County High School.

The volunteer coaching list for the school year was also approved as well; however, board member Brandon Johnson brought it to the board’s attention that the list that was provided to the board on Tuesday was an incomplete list and did not have all volunteer coaches listed. Director of Schools Charlotte McCoy said she would check into that and get back to the board.

The Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement  (TISA) accountability report was approved.

Three special education instructional assistant positions were approved by the BOE. The positions were approved for the current school year only, with funding for one of the positions coming from the special education carry over money and funding for the other two positions coming out of the state Special Education Pre-school Grant.

The hiring of an itinerate special education teacher at Wynn Elementary was also approved.

The TN Together Student Survey and Parent Consent form was also approved.

Lodging overage charges were approved for several teachers to attend the National Association for the Education for the Education of Homeless Children and You (NAEHY) Conference in Nashville and for the director and school board members to attend the Tennessee School Board Association Annual Leadership Convention in Nashville.

A multitude of Campbell County Board of Education policies were also approved on the second and final reading.

In other business, the BOE approved “Interim Administrator compensation” establishing an administrative salary schedule for individuals serving as interim administrators for one or more days, retroactive as of August 31^st.

Also approved was changing board secretary pay with compensation set at 40% of the annual salary for a full-time 12-month secretary, effective with the pay period beginning September 14^th, plus an additional $5,000 annually for meeting payments.

Also approved on Monday was the TIPS proposal for painting the old section of Jacksboro Elementary School gymnasium with funding taken from the undesignated fund balance. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED-09/10/2026-6AM)
