Campbell County driver freed from wreckage, airlifted to hospital

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- On Tuesday night, first responders were called out to a single-vehicle wreck (above photo) with one person trapped and injured.

At 7:47 pm, volunteers with the Campbell County Rural Fire Service and La Follette Rescue Squad were dispatched to the 3000 block of Old Middlesboro Highway, just east of Miller Bridge. When crews arrived, they found an injured, young Campbell County man who was not able to exit his sports coupe.

“The patient was quickly extricated and transported by Campbell County EMS to a landing zone at the Powell Valley Gun Club property where a medical helicopter air lifted the patient to the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville,” said CCRFS Chief Daniel Lawson.

The car left the road, traveling about 20-feet, before hitting a tree, according to one report.
