N. Tennessee Ave. is back open after hydraulic fluid spill

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF)- During the lunch hour Wednesday, a portion of North Tennessee Avenue had to be temporarily closed off due to a spill.  “It ended up being a hydraulic fluid leak.  A concrete pump hooked to a parked pick-up truck had its main hydraulic hose come off,” said La Follette Fire Chief Jimmy Pack.  

“The spill was not near a drain, and even it had been, it would not have been in the drinking water,” said Cobie Herrin, supervisor of water and waste water operations for LUB.

“I’d say about 40 gallons ended up on the street.  We got lucky and were able to contain it just to the street,” Pack said.

The concrete company is locally owned and operated.  The owner also came to the scene.
