The charges stem from a December 2024 incident where it was alleged Canchola attacked the woman with a knife, according to police reports. The injury was so severe she required surgery.

Canchola then fled.

In June, U.S. Marshals arrested Canchola in Indianapolis. He was held at the Marion County Jail until officers with the LaFollette Police Department could bring him back to the area.

“It was a there and back trip in one day,” said Matthew Forsyth, Chief of Police for La Follette.

Canchola will appear in criminal court on Sept. 21.
